the MAURYS, the FONTAINES, the CROCKETAGNES
(1669 - 1672)

Antoine and Louise joined the Maurys and the Fontaines in the Bordeaux area of France. Antoine became an agent for the wine and salt enterprises.

The wine and salt trade with the Dutch and the English was prosperous. But it was short lived. The political tide turned against the Huguenots. Over time the provisions of the Edit of Nantes were being incrementally limited.

In 1672, Antoine and Louise de Crocketagne escaped to England and then to Bantry Bay, Ireland. They anglicized their name to Crockett.
