Communications were slow in those days. The message that the War was over did not reach New Orleans timely. So the battle was fought.

And while there were complications having to do with Jackson's troops, ultimately they were present in the Battle of New Orleans.

The sharpshooters with their Crockett long rifles participated in the battle. Many other troops were involved. Through a confusing set of circumstances, the Americans prevailed over the British.
