Historic Montauban, France
Ancestral Home of the Crockett Rifle Makers

There were peaceful times in the beautiful town of Montauban, people working and raising families. The old town is still there. The pink stone, actually as pink as pictured, was quarried in nearby locations.

In the 1600s, however, a prolonged era of serious strife ensued over religious differences between Catholics and Protestants. Much blood was shed over these differences. People were fined, jailed, tortured, or executed for their beliefs. In France, the Protestants were known as Huguenots.
